Is Breakfast the Most Important Meal of the Day?

February 21st, 2019

Recently, an article in Forbes magazine highlighted a study in Australia that claimed, when it came to weight loss, there was no significant difference in people assigned to skip breakfast and those assigned to eat it. Some in the intermittent fasting community say you should not eat anything before 11AM, so your eating cycle can go on later in the day and make you less likely to break the fast before bedtime. While these assertions may be true, there are some good reasons to eat breakfast. There are studies that show those who eat earlier in the day lose more weight than those who eat later in... Read More

7 Ingredients to the Best Damn Camping Breakfast

October 11th, 2018

Well fall is definitely underway here in Colorado.  In fact it seems to have hit with a vengeance this year like it was mad summer even tried to show up.  But honestly this is a great time to camp. The mornings and nights get chilly sure but there’s not much better than waking up to a hot breakfast outside and I particularly like cooking with my cast iron dutch oven.  In fact I would say there is nothing better than breakfast period…and I am willing to argue that with you if need be. Famous Toastery Underwhelms Taste Buds

May 24th, 2018

When writing one of my weekly food articles I try to create positive reviews that lightly highlight areas of improvement. My visit to Famous Toastery this past weekend was highly underwhelming and altogether basic, which made me greatly ponder the angle I wanted to take for this article. The inside of the restaurant was newly built, but other than the featured artwork on display it was a very simple floorplan and interior design. Famous... Read More

Find Home at Lucile’s Creole Café -A little café, with a big heart

April 25th, 2018

With all of the new restaurants popping up in Fort Collins, especially in the Old Town area, sometimes it is nice to return to an old favorite. Lucile’s Creole Café has held its popularity as a breakfast and lunch spot in Fort Collins and other Northern Colorado locations. Passing by, you may mistake it for a small house. It has a bright yellow exterior, a fenced in yard, and a homey feel. With the restaurant being both small and busy, a wait is always to be expected on the weekends. An average wait time at Lucile’s, that I have grown to accept, is around 30-45 minutes. The food is... Read More

The Waffle Lab brings classic Belgian-style-waffle to Fort Collins

April 12th, 2018

My first experience at The Waffle Lab was a morning after drinking a little too much with friends the night before. My body carried the heavy hangover weakness and I knew food, especially heavy greasy food, was the best option. The Waffle Lab was going to be my cure. During that struggle of a breakfast, the lights felt a little too bright, the restaurant a little too cold, and the food although tasty was not sitting right in my stomach. I decided this place deserved a second visit, one where I could devote my full attention to the modern rustic atmosphere and their Liège waffle creation. According... Read More
