10 Fun Things To Do Week of May 31st: Mini Golf, Pub Runs, Art Shows and MORE!

Every Sunday, we’ll drop a new FUN10, to give you a head start on your week and a heads up on what’s going on over the coming seven days. Due to the cancellation of so many regularly scheduled events in Fort Collins – with more coming in every hour – we’re focusing this week’s edition of Fun10FortCollins on fun entertainment you can enjoy in the safety of your own home or while practicing safe ‘social distancing’ as the state begins to open back up.

Tuesday Night Summer Mini Golf League!

Grab a friend and come join Old Town Putt (244 North College Ave Fort Collins) for their Spring Mini Golf League starting June 2nd!

This season will be 8 weeks long – 7-week Regular Season, with a 1 week End of Season Tournament on 07/21/20.

-14 teams max
-Each week will be a fun new format
-Teams of 2 will compete against another team each week to win as many points as possible (alternates can fill in when needed)
-$25 per player includes green fees for all 8 weeks
-18 holes per week
-Prizes for weekly winners and League Champions
-The winning team each week will be automatically entered into the fall Tournament of Champions
-The seventh week will be a seeded consolation bracket tournament based on Regular Season standings, and ALL teams are competing!

The winning 2 person team will receive lifetime memberships to Old Town Putt!!

Week 1: Gruesome Twosome Both players on a team tee off and the opposing team chooses which shot must be used to finish the hole from
Week 2: Blindfolded Buddies One player from each team will have to play the entire hole blindfolded as their teammate guides them Week 3: Alternate Shot Each team of 2 alternates turns taking shots on each hole.
Week 4: Odd Objects & Wig Week Players must hit their first shot with a different object on each hole. Each player that wears a wig will get an extra 10 points towards their team’s season total
Week 5: Cinco De Mayo! Wear your best Sombrero to get a free shot of tequila and extra points for your team standings!
Week 6: Silly shots Each hole will have a designated way to play. Alternating teammate plays each hole
Week 7: Total Score Both players will play out the entire hole and their scores will be combined to determine points won Additional points towards season standings will be awarded for hole in ones on holes 2-8.
Week 8: End of Season Tournament!

Players who hit the -12 on the 9th hole add 20 points towards team totals every week!

Another Side Porch Stories

It’s time for another Zoom episode of Side Porch Stories! The next class is Wednesday June 3 at 6:00 PM. The theme is Jeopardy.

Jeopardy—peril or danger; hazard or risk of or exposure to harm, injury, or death.

Danger can be physical, emotional, spiritual, or ? Tell us a story when you were in deep doo doo. Or thought you were.

Story must be true and about you. Tell it by heart (or as close as you can). Look for the conflict, the change in yourself, and a universal message. Keep it to 5-7 Minutes.

But first, we’ll start with a game—Jeopardy-style! I’ll give the clues and you give the answer. You’ll learn how to tell a compelling story.

Join the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas on Friday Jun 5 at 8 p.m. for a virtual Campfire at the Cabin – Nature’s Dynamic Duos.

Nature’s Dynamic Duos – Lots of the plants, animals and fungi in ecosystems just can’t live without each other! Discover awesome partnerships in the natural areas.

Spend a cozy evening by the campfire, complete with stories and s’mores! These programs are suitable for all ages.

This program will take place virtually through Facebook live on the Natural Areas Facebook page. Join the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas virtually, this Saturday Jun 6 at 9 p.m. for Moonrise Viewing and Skygazing.

Take a glance at the full moon from your yard, then join for a program designed for kids and families.
Watch live with a Master Naturalist and learn what causes the phases of the moon and why its look is ever changing.

This program will take place virtually through Facebook live on the Natural Areas Facebook page. Register to receive a reminder a few days before the program and to receive tips on viewing the night sky. The program will last approximately 10 minutes and then enjoy gazing at the moon from your home or neighborhood!

Drive Through Art Show

The Fifth Exit presents Drive-Through Art Show, a Benefit for Wolverine Farm Letterpress & Publick House this Saturday Jun 6 from 5 – 8 p.m.

Follow a pleasant loop through a giant pasture and a tiny forest. Musical creations will greet you and wish you warmth. Visual installations will tell you stories without words.
